Children:Ages Pre-K thru Gr. 8

Because we know that life gets busy for our families in the summer, we have a modified program from June through August.

For Sunday services during summer months, volunteers provide childcare in the church for mixed ages from infancy through age 10. We provide games and crafts with a UU focus.

In order to build on our connections to the Buffalo community, we also take our religious education community out into the world over the summer.  We focus on maintaining community connections and spending time in nature.  We use our “UUCB RE” Facebook page to communicate when we are attending activities that we can share as a community.  Please join us at:

to stay in touch, or to let us know if you’ll be attending any of our activities.

From the first Sunday after Labor Day in September through May, we have a rich program that includes “Children’s Worship,” “Faith in Action” activities, and “Age-Graded Curricula.”  We use curricula from the Unitarian Universalist Association Tapestry of Faith series; these curricula can be viewed their entirety at:

They encompass four main threads:

    • Worship

    • Individual Spiritual Practice

    • UU Identity

    • World Religions

We have a rich history, having evolved from congregational churches and the Transcendentalist movement of the 19th century. Among our early heroes:

Henry David Thoreau, Margret Fuller, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Susan B. Anthony.

Today, our Sunday School lessons center around the
Seven Principles and Six Sources of Unitarian Universalism.

Parents are requested to sign their children into the program in the Alliance Room before service and expected to pick children up in the Alliance Room by 12:15. You are always welcome to accompany your child to class.

Adult Religious Education classes are announced as they are offered. If you have any questions, contact our Director of Religious Education at dre@buffalouu.org
