Women's Society

The Women’s Society, founded 150 years ago to promote fellowship and cooperation among our members and to sustain interest in Unitarian Universalist ideals, remains a vital, active force in the contemporary life of the church. In spite of its name, the Society is open to all, men and women alike. Dues are $10 per year, but membership is not necessary to participate in our activities and programs.

Programs are diverse, stimulating and interesting, ranging from musical entertainment to lectures from well-known local authors and academics, to presentations on area issues and civic concerns. Presenters are knowledgeable, personable, and enjoyable.

Additionally, the Society organizes two outings each year: The Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada and one other to a local site of interest to our membership.

The Society takes pride in its financial contributions to the church and the community, funding special projects that are usually above and beyond the daily operating needs. It raises money through the Annual Used Book/Media Sale, the Presidential Election Year Bake Sale and donations for Memorial Service Receptions. The Women’s Society sponsors a luncheon program in the Parish Hall on the third Thursday of each month, September through June, except for January. Meet for snacks, beverages and conversation at 11 am; the program begins at 11:30; lunch is served at 12:30. Programs are free and open to all, but if you plan to stay for lunch ($11), a reservation is required. (Note: The events are off-site in May & June).
